Michel wants to talk to Dawsons promoter Gary Shaw and with the U.S. premium television channel HBO to work out a contract and a date for the bout, but cautioned there is no guarantee they will reach agreement. Dawson (31-1) took the title with a controversial second round TKO victory over Bernard Hopkins on Saturday night. Hopkins suffered a shoulder injury and was unable to continue the fight when he was lifted and thrown to canvas by Dawson, who was awarded the victory. Hopkins is expected to appeal the result, which many felt should have been declared no contest. But neither camp expressed interest in a rematch. After the bout, Dawson said he next wanted to fight Pascal (26-2-1), who surrendered the title to Hopkins in a 12-round unanimous decisionn Dec.dddddddddddd 18 in Montreal. "It seems to be the will of everyone to make a Pascal-Dawson rematch," said Michel, who attended the Dawson-Hopkins clash in Los Angeles with Pascal. "Dawson said he wanted a rematch. "Usually, its the challenger who challenges the champion, not the other way around." Pascal won a decision over Dawson last August after the bout was stopped in the 11th round due to bleeding from an accidental head butt. Michel confirmed that Montreal welterweight Antonin Decarie (25-1) has pulled out of a bout scheduled for Thursday night with 37-year-old former champion Jose Luis Castillo (62-11-1). Decarie suffered a rib injury in training. While there were no broken bones, Decarie was unprepared to fight after missing two weeks of training, Michel said. The fight card will go on.
