THREE THINGS TO WATCH
1. Veteran presence
Jordan Weal and Taylor Leier come out of the http://www.seenamy.com/teemu-pulkkinen-c-1_24.html lineup for the Flyers. It means Dale Weise and Jori Lehtera go back in. Coach Dave Hakstol said the veteran influence is just a coincidence, but why then take out two players with a better scoring touch? Clearly the Flyers are looking to end their seven-game drought with a more experienced lineup.
“I think it’s been all over the board,” alternate captain Wayne Simmonds said. “There’s been some veteran guys making mistakes — I’ve made a couple myself — and some of the younger guys are making mistakes. We can’t start putting blame. That’s where things start falling apart. You can’t blame anyone. Everyone’s been making mistakes in this dressing room from the younger guys to the old guys and the old guys should know better. We gotta keep our heads up, stay positive and stay within what we can control and play better hockey.”
2. Calmer defense?
Andrew MacDonald is set to return to the lineup after missing 15 games with a knee injury. He will likely go back to a pair with Ivan Provorov and Shayne Gostisbehere will be reunited with Robert Hagg. The Flyers are still missing Radko Gudas to a suspension, but this should bring some level of normalcy back to the blueliners.
"When you have to shift your D-pairings due to an injury, sometimes it depends on how you’re making a shift or who you’re shifting for," Hakstol said. "For us the last couple of games we’ve had Mac out and we’ve had Gudy out, two players that are very distinct in their roles. We’re a little ways from getting Gudy back. With Mac, when he comes back…he’s got a real presence in our dressing room and he also has a real presence on the ice for us in terms of his role on his D-pairing and the domino effect of our D-corps."
3. Goalie matchup
Brian Elliott will get another go for the Flyers, likely leaving Michal Neuvirth to face the San Jose Sharks Tuesday in the second half of a http://www.officialblackhawkssale.com/michal-rozsival-jersey-c-1_14.html back-to-back. Elliott is 7-2-1 in his career against the Penguins with a 2.47 goals-against average and .928 save percentage.
He will likely face Matt Murray, who has a 2-2-0 in five career games against the Flyers with a 3.04 goals-against average and .906 save percentage.
